Chilli "Peppa Twin" Surfboard Review Ep 145
In this episode, Noel Salas and Asa Cascavilla put the Chilli "Peppa Twin" through the paces while James Cheal from Chilli Surfboards breaks down the board attributes. Having the same high-performance DNA as other Chilli surfboards, the "Peppa Twin" has a wide tail with pulled back fin box placement, is relatively flat with a nice V and simple exit rocker as well as a pretty flat deck and pulled in rails. James executes a high performance feel on this twin fin without eliminating paddle power.
Noel likes the HP Twins on the 5'4 Twin Tech but switched to the Pivot Twin + Trailer in Carbon on the 5'6. It made the 5'6 feel much looser due to the fin boxes being placed further back on this tw...

CI "Happy Everyday" Surfboard Review Ep 144
Просмотров 12 тыс.21 день назад
In this episode, Noel Salas and friends review the Channel Islands "Happy Everyday." The "Happy Everyday" in Noel's opinion has tons of drive, quick get-up-and-go speed, lots of speed through turns, and a generous width in the nose and tail. CI created this surfboard to be a small-performance short board, but it actually goes well in overhead surf too and can be categorized as a daily driver as...

How does it compare in relation to the Puddle Jumper HP?
@@RussoNeto PJHP is shorter and paddles a little better. I think it has less overall rocker so it’s a bit faster too
@@surfnshowreviews7777 thank you so much, appreciate that 🤙
Could it be a good board for a low intermediate surfer if I take a 6'2 35,9 L for a 157 lbs surfer? Thx for your help
@@ludoviclange6284 Yes, I also recommend the HS Hypto Krypto
Subscribed. Without a doubt you are the most useful and informative surf channel on RUclips. 👍🤙
I always had good boards from CI. I need to decide on a new one board quiver for ending of summer/winter when i get back to Oahu. I will be eyeing out this board..
That's crazy. I used to work at Clark Foam back in the early 2000's and we'd occasionally drop off blanks at T&C because a few of their shapers refused to shape with Buford blanks because they'd pressure dent super easy and didn't like that they used plywood stringers and now they're making super solid blanks. Glad to hear they stepped up their game. I was thinking of getting this in epoxy but now I'm not sure because I plan on using the board in head high+ waves and I prefer the feel of a PU in bigger waves.
Love your channel! For a daily go to from knee high to overhead lost rnf 96 or flat earth? Which Is the better paddler and user friendly? highly value your opinion. Cheers.
@@rodbarrett1581 The 96 is more versatile and way easier to shred. I say 96 for what you’re looking for.
@surfnshowreviews7777 thank you for your input.
do you recommend gremlin or pyzalien 2 for a daily
@@se4ni the Gremlin is a Groveler… the P2 is more of a Daily Driver to good wave board but it can be fun in smaller surf with a 2+1 fin set up. The P2 is not a Groveler…. I would not ride it in 1-2’ mushy waves. The Gremlin is ideal for 1-4’ surf… not ideal in bigger waves at all
I find this board needs pretty groomed surf. Youre surfing pretty prime conditions here. My experience has been the domintaor is so stiff its a tough board to surf when conditions have wobble shitty winds or some lump to contend with. My normal pu boards in similiar dims help correct my mistakes then.
@@AnonYmous-vu1lw Most EPS/Epoxy builds struggle in choppy surf. A PU/Poly will always feel better in messy surf.
That’s the best surfboard model I ever had!!!

Another skimboard with fins. Having some length in your boards is a good thing.
You know, I think you guys do a huge disservice to surfing by playing this volume game. These shorter boards are not for your average surfer, no matter their skill level. Just Slater in the 90s, we were all riding boards to narrow. These short boards look like skimboards with fins. When you don't have balance and some length, it changes the planing area. Kinda like a bass boat and how in plane it only uses about a foot of the boat contacting the water vs a cigarette boat that has more planing area. Length gives you more flow, more control on bottom turns. I ride 7ft boards and I found they ride and perform as good as these shorties Bec of the tail. Wide tail, stiffer board, pin tail looser. These stubbies short boards need a lot of speed which is not always easy to use obtain. This board seems to fit Sal well, he isn't checking up his bottom turns. Find what fits you and your style. Don't buy a board Bec of what someone's else is riding.
I love this board
How would you compare to red tiger? Best one for everyday beachies?
Great review as always! I’m wondering if PT is more for good waves or works in mushy waves. Is it versatile or needing push from waves? Is the flat deck helping easy padding? I would also love to hear your thoughts on the comparisons with Deuce, which is also a performance twin.
@@koichihashikawa8738 The PT needs a wave with some push to go good. Both the Deuce and PT offer incredible performance. To compare them both side by side go to our website and compare. Cheers
Great review! Your friend Asa is a good surfer, but he has a "locked" backside and is terrible to look at although effective. From your videos I saw that you have improved a lot from the first video to today even though you were already an excellent surfer and even though you were no longer very young. Let's try to unlock Asa's backside! (With all due respect to him)
@@matteot6903 We are all working on our surfing. I am working with Asa to unlock his surfing with better technique and he is progressing. It takes time and I know there are a lot of surfers that can relate to Asa’s surfing. Asa is heavily front footed and I am more back footed and when we both test boards it helps others that surf off their front foot to know how the board will go for them.
Instead of having the fins further back so it’s like a thruster but a twin…MAKE A TWINZER fin. I don’t know why any well known shapers/companies don’t make a twinzer fin board. They go so good and the sweet spot is bigger, best of both a twin and a thruster..is a twinzer
Awesome video thank you Noel! Congrats on 50k subscribers too!🎉
solid backside🔥how is it compere to the bv2 in terms of speed glide and paddling?
@@eyalpolishook6486 hard to compare these two boards… a pure twin fin board draws different lines. The BV2 offers a bit more glide and effortless speed in small weaker waves do to less overall rocker. The PT has a bit more hold and drive in overhead surf.
Why is everyone trying to make twin fins go like thrusters??? Have to be one of the strangest trends I’ve come across.
@@wozza77able A twin Fin will always surf like a twin fin… they are faster, looser, and draw different lines compared to a Thruster. However we are talking about performance Twin Fin boards that offer the hold, drive, speed, and performance to draw sharper lines without sliding out.
Amazing board and solid review! I was lucky enough to find this board in an eps full carbon construction and immediately fell in love with the way it looks and feels under arm. In the water it absolutely flies! Surfs exactly the way you describe it. So much speed from the second you’re on your feet. It is my first twin and it did not disappoint one bit.
@@bcboas I love hearing that. Good on you for taking some risk in buying a Twinny. They are so fun….
In the past three months, I've been surfing with the Holy Grail (in CR), and I LOVE IT. I'm amazed at how easy it is to maneuver on the waves. I can't wait to get my hands on the Holy Hypto 🙂. Thanks for another great review!
The Holy Grail is good but the Holy Hypto is on another level as a Twin + Trailer. Just saying
@@surfnshowreviews7777 I think I know what I want for Xmas ;-)
Great board! Have a 5,6 with the tickness and wide of a 5'5 and it's epic. Works well in small surf but it's better in good chest to head high waves.
Epic… thanks for posting. What fins are you liking in your Peppa Twin?
@@surfnshowreviews7777 Christensons as everyday fin and power twins when it's good. With the christenson the board feels more lively, the power twins have more hold. Both great.
@@carlosserra8128 Cheers!!
@@surfnshowreviews7777 cheers! keep up the good work Noel!
Fins set back further makes a lot of sense. Love my MR fins. 🤙🏼
Another great review! Atrocious paint job on Jame's walk-thru. Between slater's great white and this paint job, shaper's paint aethestics are heading in the wrong direction 😬
I actually liked it. I wish they did my board like that. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
Slaters board is not a paint job on the Great White its Volcanic construction.
🔥🌶
@surfnshowreviews7777, another great review; I can't wait to hear what you think about their new Pisces and how it compares to both this and, maybe more importantly, the ring 96. The new Lost Picses has a 5-fin setup, which gives you a ton more flexibility from a fin perspective, but it looks like the tail is a cross between the retro and 96. Can't wait to hear what you think about it
I can’t wait to ride mine!!!
@@surfnshowreviews7777 any idea when a review may becoming?
Love Chilli boards! Picked up a mid-strength a couple years ago. As a landlocked bloke who only gets to the coast 5-6 times a year, that board reconnected me to my surfing in an “always there for me” kind of way. Great review as always Noel 🤙🏼
Stoked to hear your shredding a Mid Strength.
Have you heard of anyone running your pivot twins in it? I’ve mainly run Mayhem Thrusters.
Hi Noel. So much knowledge in these videos. What fins would you choose between fcs2 Machado quad or Matt Biolos split keel? Which would be the most versatile for a summer groveler setup?
I like the Machado Quad better. If you want more performance you will love my Quad set. Check them out here. surfnshow.com/products/momentum-series-5-fin-set
Thanks!!those look really good. I will figure out a way to get a set of those to Europe.
Brilliant review as always! Enjoy your reviews. They’re really in depth and so educational! Yewwww! Could you possibly do a review on Pyzel’s Precious. That would be amazing!
Cheers for the kind words. I asked the folks at Pyzel for it and I got crickets
Hi Noel how does the HE compare to the pyzel mini ghost?
A little more rail line on the H E…. So it’s draws out your turns a bit more. The MG Squash surfs smaller waves better because it’s shorter. The H E has a better wave range in overhead surf.
Is there any overlap between the happy everyday in the rocket wide ? Is there room for both in the quiver ?
I think both boards overlap. I say get a Bobby Quad
Will it be in PU?
All boards can be ordered in PU/Poly
Ive been using this RIKT I just bought. I'm obsessed. so much easier
Epic review! Loved seeing the different conditions and surfers on the same shape. Question - would you recommend the Bobby quad or Flat Earth for Waco? If those are my options and can only bring one. Thanks!
Could it be ridden as 2+1??
Absolutely
@@surfnshowreviews7777 sick! Going to try my MR’s with a trailer. Is it good in small waves? Just bought a 5’9 custom with a lot of foam.

Gremlin or white tiger?
1-2’ mushy waves I say WT.
You have to get Chris from Shred Show on an episode. Both of you guys have the best board reviews to this day, he was ahead of his time
I'm 6.2 225 49 years old. My happy everyday is 6.3. 39.9L i ride as quad. Board mostly newport beach beach break and some lowers. performs well once the waves are chest high and up to a couple feet overhead. For me best board I've surfed in a while. I'm not a fan in smaller surf.
Thank you for posting!!! It will help a bunch of surfers. Cheers
Never leave home without it.
comes down to the body!!
Greetings from north coast New South Wales. I’m looking for a HPSB/Daily driver to replace my D2. Current quiver is 5’8 RNF96 as a twinny for small days, and a 6’2 custom round tail PU shortboard for good days. I’m 6’2 and surf my local beach break mostly. I’m looking for great pocket performance - tight turning, fast and vertical. Considering I72, Twin turbo, Xero gravity, Holy hypto, and maybe the lost ripper but there’s the HE, HK2 and many others! What would be your recommendation? Cheers and thanks for your epic reviews!
I like so many boards you are considering. The bottom line is choosing the right board with the right rocker for your waves. If your home break waves are fast and hollow when they are overhead then you might want a board with a little more rocker CI Pro 2. If your home breaks have flatter faced waves with some push then I recommend the Happy Everyday or I72. Both of these boards draw high performance lines and easy to shred compared to a typical HPSB.
Thanks for the feedback Noel. It’s mostly average so flatter rocker makes sense. Leaning towards the I72 as I had a Modern 2 that was magic. Did you ever try the carbon construction? Cheers
Congrats Noel on the win!! I was shocked by your board choices. I thought for sure you were going to use the Dominator 2, but I guess going with what felt the best was the correct call. Stoked for you. And the backside 360 looked amazing.
Cheers
Hi Noel, how would you compare the Happy everyday with the lost puddle jumper pro ?
Good comparison. The H E has a better wave range for good surf and overhead waves. However the PJ Pro feels faster in smaller waves and a little easier to shred. It Carrie’s a bit more speed.
White tiger or Astro pop??
I like the WT better for smaller waves. It’s faster and grovels better
hi guys would love to see a T&C 'after burner' nodel review.... no T&C in this channel i believe and the after burner looks interesting. BTW, I swear i already posted this comment. was it moderated? if yes why? 10x

@@surfnshowreviews7777 10x for the reply, indeed widening the board brands would be nice... i do not know the nomad but it looks like the after burner stacks up to a very popular category - the 'HP SB Wide' as ben gravy names it. so its similar to the likes of CI 2 happy, lost PJ pro, rusty SD maybe etc.... all of which you probably reviewed and so comparissons can be done...
